TL;DR
MenuDOI collects nothing. There are no developer accounts, advertising, analytics or tracking. Your library stays on your devices and in your private iCloud database when you enable sync.
Overview
MenuDOI does not include advertising, third-party analytics or cross-app tracking. The app stores the citation library you create on your devices and, when iCloud is available for the app, in your private iCloud database.
Citation lookups
To retrieve citation metadata, MenuDOI sends the identifier or repository URL you enter to the service appropriate for that source. Depending on the identifier and available fallbacks, these services can include DOI.org, Crossref, DataCite, OpenAlex, PubMed, arXiv, HAL and GitHub. Those requests are necessary to provide the lookup you ask for and are governed by each provider’s terms and privacy policy.
Library storage and iCloud
Citations, folders, tags and favourites are stored using Apple platform storage. When iCloud sync is available and enabled for MenuDOI, Apple CloudKit synchronises this data through your iCloud account. The developer does not operate a separate account system or citation database.
Files and exports
Files you import are read to perform the import you request. Files you export are written to the location you choose. MenuDOI does not upload imported or exported library files to a developer-operated server.
Diagnostics and purchases
Apple may provide aggregated sales, crash or performance information through App Store Connect according to your Apple settings and Apple’s policies. Purchases and downloads are handled by Apple.
Your control
You can edit or delete citations in MenuDOI and manage the app’s iCloud data through Apple’s iCloud settings. Removing the app deletes its local data subject to the normal behaviour of device backups and any synced iCloud copy.
Changes
This policy may change when MenuDOI’s data handling or features change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
